Chaos erupted yesterday in Federal College of Agriculture, Ibadan as police officers clashed with students, culminating in two staff being rushed to the hospital with bullet wounds.
Students of the institution were staging a peaceful protest in a bid to create awareness about the closure of the institution for over 3 months when officers of the Nigerian police force arrived en mass and started attacking students with tear gas, live ammunition, axes and other cruel weapons, a witness reports.
A video of the altercation was shared online and it’s really sad to watch. In the video, officers are seen chasing students and shooting at them while students ran for their lives. Some daredevil students are seen throwing stones at the officers from a distance and police stoned them right back.
Ayo Adelana shared the video on Facebook and revealed that 2 members of staff were hit by stray bullet, one in the abdomen and the other in the thigh. Both victims are in UCH undergoing operations to remove bullets from their bodies. There are also unconfirmed reports that a student was killed.
